We are going to do things a bit different for Cali Dreamin this year. In our continuous quest to shake things up and try new formats, we are going this time for a “package deal”. For $30 entry, AMs will get:
1. Players Pack Custom Stamped Disc
2. Ace Pool
3. CTP prizes
4. Chili Lunch
5. Donation to Food Gatherers - http://www.foodgatherers.org/

Here is the breakdown of where your entry fee will go:

Amateurs: $30 entry - $12 to player pack, $5 to chili lunch, $3 to ace pool and $10 to payout.
Pros: $30 entry - $5 to chili lunch, $3 to ace pool, $22 to payout. The 101 will also add $101 dollars to the Men’s Open Division.

SAVE $5 – if you would like to save $5 on your entry, please bring five food items to donate to Food Gatherers. Here is a sheet of suggestions on items to donate:
http://www.foodgatherers.org/pdfs/food%20drive%20suggestions%200908.pdf

Since our chili is all being donated (more on that below) the 101 is going to turn around and donate the lunch fee directly to Food Gatherers. For every participant at Cali Dreamin, Food Gatherers will receive $5. "Food Gatherers exists to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in our community by: reducing food waste through the rescue and distribution of perishable and non perishable food; coordinating with other hunger relief providers; educating the public about hunger; and developing new food resources."

Annual Passes: 2010 Wash. County Annual Passes will be available for purchase in the morning. This pass will get you in to Independence Lake AND Rolling Hills. Please bring extra money for your 2010 pass. ($25 for in-county) Let’s show Indy Lake that we appreciate the investment they have made in disc golf. Please support Independence Lake and buy your 2010 pass at Cali Dreamin.

Donated CTPs. We would love more donations from players to give out as CTPs. Even a single disc will help, it will all go back to the players and your name will be recognized. Please let us know if you plan to bring a CTP to donate.

SAVE $10 - Chili Cook Benefits. If you would like to cook Chili for Cali Dreamin, you will receive $10 off your entry fee for a total of $20. Please bring a large Crockpot full of Chili, enough for 50 people to taste.

2010 Chili Cook-off competition Heats Up! Joe Anttila will be presiding over the chili cookoff. Past Winners: 2008 – Joe Anttila. 2009 – Derek Brown. Will your name be on the list?? Save $10 and bring a pot of Chili. Registered participants:

No League on Halloween

We will temporarily suspend Saturday Doubles this week to allow everyone to play in Mystic Mills at Hudson Mills. So Saturday Dubs will not be played for points or ace pool this week and will resume on November 7th with a singles day on the Picnic Course. If some of you cannot make the full time commitment of a tournament and still want to play a noon doubles round then post here on the dgscene talk section and we'll get something going.

Here is the all the info you would need for Mystic Mills:
http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Mystic_Mills_2009

There is another cool event going on the same day and if you are in the Pinconning area check it out:
http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Chesse-Tosser_Triples_Disc_Golf_Tournament_2009

TD for this event is Tom Swarthout who many of you may know. He is just starting out as a TD and it looks like he has a really cool format with three rounds of 13 - best shot triples.

The south side of the Picnic Course (holes 9-16) is installed and open for play. The remaining holes will be in by this Friday 10/16. This course will remain in the ground until Spring 2010 (exact date TBD based on weather/other factors).

The new course is in at Indy Lake!

We have spent a great deal of time and effort on this new course and we're very proud of the outcome. The signs and tees have yet to be installed, so it may help to play with someone who knows their way around.

Roc and Rolling Hills - Call for Sponsors

Local 101 is looking for CTP donations for Roc and Rolling Hills - August 22nd.

Our goal is to have all 24 holes sponsored with a Closest To Pin (CTP) prize. A donation can be as simple as a disc and we encourage donations from individuals, clubs and leagues. Please get creative! Baked goods and fresh produce prizes are underrated. We will take all donations and assemble them together in a big pile of CTP goodness to distribute back to the players.

Send an email to pres@local101dg.com or post in the talk section on RnR Hills (http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Roc_and_Rolling_Hills_2009/talk). Claim a hole and give a description of your CTP prize so we can all get collectively stoked.

Also, cash-less preregistration worked pretty well for us at Loco IV, so we're going to continue to use it. We are currently accepting registrations. We are not offering the typical divisions that most tournaments have, so please read the description before you register. More information about Roc and Rolling Hills 2009 can be found here: http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Roc_and_Rolling_Hills_2009

We would like to extend a big thanks to everyone who came out to Loco IV. The tournament was a big success! The 101 will be using some holes from the Chuck D. Memorial course and designing a permanent, year round course at Independence Lake. Look out for that course this summer. Thanks!

Here are a few more details on the tournament and announcements:

http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Loco_IV_2009

Registration: 8:30 - 9:30am at Tournament Central
Tournament Central will be on the far north end of the park. Basically follow the park road until it ends in a parking lot. We will do registration in the main building, it will be easy to see from the parking lot.

Please get here early, the event is almost at full capacity and the earlier you get here and get checked in, the sooner we can get the tournament started.

Lunch: Lunch will be available for an additional $7 from B-Line restaurant (menu attached). Don't forget to buy your lunch when you register. The B-Line has been a long time partner of the 101 and we encourage everyone to stop by for good food and drink after the tournament. B-Line's address is:
5960 Pinckney Rd
Howell, MI 48843
(517) 546-9122

Shirts - We have new printed Local 101 T Shirts for sale. $10 each or two for $15. Get em while they are hot!

Basket Raffle - $5 for a raffle ticket for a Chainstar ($350 value). If we sell enough raffle tickets we will do the drawing at Loco.

The Chuck D Memorial Course (alpha version) will be installed today and be playable this evening. This will closely resemble the permanent course that will have concrete teepads and will be installed soon after the tournament. Please give us feedback after the event.

See you all tomorrow!
